With a combined 60+ years of Equine Experience in Utah, Colorado. Oregon, Washington, Kansas and Ohio, Daniel & Kristin Patton chose beautiful Ostrander, Ohio as the home of their Four Star Quarter Horses. They have two amazing daughters, Emily and Jessica. Emily is highly involved within the horse industry competing in Youth events, while Jessica rode as a youngster and now works for the family business, CarbonKlean.
After working with, and being mentored for over a decade by AQHA Hall of
Fame Member and Legendary Breeder of Quarter Horses Carol Harris, Daniel &
Kristin were privileged to be asked to continue the Rugged Lark bloodline in
their program. Through Rugged Larks son Larks Oneforthemoney, and a
phenomenal daughter and grand-get, they continue to infuse this legendary
line into their Western Performance and very select Hunter Horses.
Four Star Quarter Horses is primarily a performance horse breeding and show
program. We believe that in focusing on performance horses, and not
specifically focusing on an event, is the best thing that we as breeders can
do to maintain and strengthen the diversity, athleticism and hybrid vigor of
our bloodstock. The most successful performance breeding programs in the
nation were never specifically focused on an event. They worked to create
the optimal performance horse with form to function conformation, great
bone, strong feet, impeccable athleticism, unfettered talent, and a
disposition second to none. They let the horse tell them what they were
happy with doing. Our horses are bred for and designed to excel in Reining,
Working Cowhorse, Ranch, Cutting, Roping, Barrels, etc.
We have a very diverse set of broodmares. While many choose the top
bloodlines of the day, we consider ourselves stewards of the breed, and work
to make sure that every mare we choose, when crossed with the right
stallions will consistently out produce themselves. Each and every mare we
have is hand picked and chosen for very specific attributes that they can
bring to our program. Just as we scrutinize our mares, we do the same in the
evaluation process with their foals. We do not keep a mare on the farm who
does not put the exceptional quality foals out that we expect, and that our
customers demand to see from us.
Our Stallions at Four Star are exceptional in every way. They all have been
successful in the show pen. They all have an unmatched disposition, great
feet, strong bone, incredible athleticism and loads of talent. Those
stallions that we choose to breed to outside our farm are those that we feel
will specifically enhance our mares, and provide our customers with winning
foals.
We are blessed to have bred incredible horses from Performance Horses to
Warmbloods to Hunter Horses. We believe that the group of mares and
Stallions at Four Star will lead the way in AQHA, APHA NRHA and NRCHA events
for years to come.
